“Fresh Start” Winners Announced

Kitt Moran’s beautiful oil painting, “Burns Court,” took first prize  while Tom Bond’s stunning watercolor, “Peace River,” won the Grand Prize-People’s Choice, in “Fresh Start,” NPAC’s first gallery show of 2013.

Our members submitted more than 50 entries for this year’s inaugural show. Punta Gorda artist Mark Preuss served as our judge.

Other winners included Sheryl Unwin, second place, “Midnight Patrol,” scratchboard, and Barbara Archer-Baldwin, third place, “Rainbow Palms,” pastel.

Honorable mentions went to Chuck Wilke, “Nearly Forgotten,” cottonwood bark carving; Barry Thorne, “Parrotfish, Parrot Head Fish, Cheeseburger and Paradise,” acrylic and oil; Clare Harvey, “New Mandolin,” acrylic; Beverly Yankwitt, “Global Warming,” mixed media; and Steve Miller, “Take Me,” acrylic.

In the Photography category, Linda Moreau took First Prize for her sequential photos depicting the hatching of a sea turtle egg entitled “Breaking Free.”

“Fresh Start” will hang in our gallery until March 2, along with our current invitational show featuring the works of Steve Etter and Pat Mumper, two dedicated NPAC members who passed away in 2012.
