The next member show for the North Port Art Center is “Found Objects” and will run from 4/25 through 6/26, with a reception on 5/1 from 4-6 p.m. at the art center, all are invited. This show proves to be a very interesting and unusual one with artists incorporating found objects as subject matter or as the canvas. This is always a fun exhibit. NPAC has added another element to their shows by inviting the North Port Poets Society to select paintings and write poems about them which will then be displayed next to the pictures. The invitational exhibit for the same period of time includes “Teachers of NPAC” featuring all instructors of adult and children’s classes. In addition 8 artists from NPAC will be participating in a group show at Com Centers Gallery at Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton. The title of the show is “A Visual Journey of Eight Artists” and provides an art experience for everyone from realism – landscapes, still life, portraits, tropical – to abstract. The publicity states that this is “the best show” they have had to date, and runs from 4/15 – 6/31, hours 10-4. Directions can be obtained by going to www.comcenters.net and clicking on the Lakewood Ranch location. The artists are: Cathy Beausoleil, Steve Etter, Clare Harvey, Danny Hahlbohm, Coleen Henry, Kitt Moran, Pat Mumper, and Ron Sanders.
