I am originally from Massachusetts and grew up in Billerica, a beautiful town 30 miles north of Boston. My husband and I are now full time residents in North Port, Florida.
My interest in the arts started at a very young age. By the time I was 13 and a freshman at Billerica Memorial High School I decided that being an artist was my career of choice. I had some wonderful mentors in high school, who had always encouraged my creative side and during my senior year I was voted most artistic in my senior class yearbook. I attended the Art Institute of Boston in 1984 through 1986. I studied Illustration with a minor in Graphic Design, hoping to become a successful magazine illustrator.
The majority of my artistic skills have been self-taught, whether it be working with color and graphite pencils, pen and ink, or using design programs such as Corel Draw and Adobe products. These skills took me down the road to printing and mechanical drawing. I worked at various printing companies from 1984 to 1997. My chosen path as an artist seemed to change to graphic design, but my passion to draw and illustrate the subjects that I love the most, people, wildlife and pets, has never changed.
In 1997 with the help of AOL I met and married the most wonderful man in the world. I moved to Gosport England in 1997 and lived there for eight fantastic years. I loved the vast amount of culture, arts, nature, and the fabulous countryside of Great Britian. Gosport is a great town with a tremendous amount of Naval history, which I found fascinating. Then in 2005 we began our new journey and life here in the US and have been enjoying the beauty of Florida living, culture, wildlife and fabulous scenery that only the Gulf Coast of Florida can give to you each and every day.
The summer of 2010 I became a member and volunteer at the North Port Art Center where I have met some amazing artists, who have been my inspiration to continue on with my journey as an artist.
Today my passion for animals and nature has inspired me to create color and graphite pencil drawings of some of my most favorite subjects. I will draw from the largest of wildlife creatures to the smallest of domestic pets. This has become my passion and interest of choice, but I still love to draw portraits of people as well.
